The Invisible MCC

The MCC is the highest credential the ICF awards. It is also where the most invisible practices live. Not because MCC coaches lack authority. They have more of it than any other group in the profession. The invisibility happens for a different reason altogether, and it is the one reason that is almost impossible to see when you are inside it.

Mastery and visibility have an inverse relationship for a specific kind of practitioner. The deeper the practice, the more the coaching culture has shaped a particular belief system: that the work should speak for itself, that self-promotion is beneath what you do, that being found is a function of reputation rather than infrastructure. This belief system does not feel like a limiting paradigm. It feels like professional integrity. That is precisely what makes it so difficult to move through.

As Bob Proctor observed, the paradigm runs the person until the person chooses to run the paradigm. The most sophisticated version of this paradigm is that it does not look like a paradigm at all. It looks like values. This quiz examines which version you are living with.
